CCE Guidelines and Pattern

Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation refers to a system of school based assessment that covers all aspects of student’s development.

It emphasizes two fold objectives.Continuity in evaluation and assessment of broad based learning.

CCE helps in reducing stress of students by :-

  • Identifying learning progress of students at regular time intervals on small portions of content.
  • Employing a variety of remedial measures of teaching based on learning needs and potential of different students.
  • Desisting from using negative comments on the learner’s performance.
  • Encouraging learning through employment of a variety of teaching aids and techniques.
  • Involving learners actively in the learning process.
  • Recognizing and encouraging specific abilities of students, who do not excel in academics but perform well in other co-curricular areas.

TEACHERS SHOULD KEEP IN MIND

  • Use a variety of tools (oral, projects, presentations) .
  • Understand different learning styles and abilities.
  • Share the assessment criteria with the students.
  • Allow peer and self assessment.
  • Give an opportunity to the student to improve.

Important Points :

  • CCE will cover the scholastic and co scholastic areas of school education.
  • The two types of assessment referred to in the circular are formative and summative. The periodicity of the two types of assessment are four and twice a year respectively.
  • Formative Assessment totals to 40% weightage.
  • Summative Assessment totals to 60% weightage.
  • There are nine grades in Part A of Scholastic assessment and Part B of the same assessment has five grades.
  • Summative assessment covers non academic areas like attitudes and skills and there are three grades.
  • If a student secures Grade 6 in the academic areas his/her marks would range from 51% to 60%.
  • CCE advocates absolute grading. This means that Grade 9 would imply an A2 grade.
  • The academic term will be divided into two terms.

This system really sucks..It is not decreasing the stress of students rather it is increasing it. students are getting lot of assignments and works and in my opinion its just a waste of time. Really the student have to obey their teachers whether they are wrong or right. This system is creating problems for many students because many students are not able to understand this concept. It will not effect students at all moreover it is increasing the burden and it’ll make more difficult for students to cope up with it. I hope that you’ll do something for it.

Well, this system is only aiming at the students who are weak in their academics. But what about students who are performing well in their academics?? Who will take the responsibility if the latter are getting bad grades because they are not interested in any co curricular activities?? And I have noticed that many of the teachers are ignoring some of the main aims of cce, like interaction with students and all. The from what I am feeling, I could surely say that the present system has done nothing but worsening the situation….I kindly request to the board that they take sufficient steps to make sure that the schools are implementing the CCE in the RIGHT SENSE and is not becoming an extra burden for the students….It’s our life, dreams and aspirations that are otherwise gonna be ruined….

    Thank You

    Hi,
I have a rather unusual query,n am not sure if i would get the precise answer, however i take a chance.
Class 1X, forms are being duly filled and being forwarded by the school.
But here i faced a problem, that the name of the father was not written n hence the form sent back to me( am a single parent )
I am the mother , taking care n duly responsible for my daughter then why the father( already remarried )name is an important aspect.

MOTHER IS THE WHOLE SOLE DOING EVERYTHING BUT THE STAMP OF THE FATHER REQD? WHY? TO WHOM SUD I ADDRESS THIS MATTER.

i hope i get the right answer.

yeah…..i’m 99.9% sure that my school is not undertaking any of the measures mentioned in this site…….if so the it wudnt have been this much harsh…… instead of helping the students understand the things they have 2 improve through the tests, they are constantly putting more pressure on us by continuously saying that the marks of each n every small tests will be entered in our final marks!!! i think this is the most important thing that has to be stopped first

    @richa agarwal
CCE is an evaluation system. Teachers not require to tell the students that What is CCE. These are the techniques to evaluate the over all personality of the student. In this system of evaluation non-scholatic area of the students also treated important but in old evaluation system it was ignored badly and there was a fear of pass and fail in the minds of pupils. But one thing should be kept in mind that the role of the teacher is very important. He must do his work honestly and diligently only then the real purpose of this evaluation system can be achieved. Here the burden of the teacher has increased a lot coz he has to kept daily record of his teaching as well of the students progress. So it is burdensome for the teachers.

students all over india truly believe and want the board exams to be held as with this cce method, the pressure has not decreased infact increased, we all dont know whom to say their problems, here are some points on which they want exams to be commenced again

1] Teachers themselves are confused and biased to give marks to their own favorites ,i.e. getting partial.

2] Syllabus other than the SA1 cannot be touched before SA1, now only 4 months will be left for SA2 and approx 9 chapters in all subjects all major festivals on the calender,

3] Students barely get time to study just busy with internet useless projects submissions copying from another’s copy or book, though the submissions will not be of any use after SA1.

4] Chapters included in SA1 will not be revised thereafter in this academic year so students opting for p c m or bio will face a lot of problems in 11 class .

Internet can be a vital part for college students but at this tender age of 14 or 15 this is disgusting for students to put themselves in net world serving a huge amount of inappropriate stuff,

5] The generation who studied through previous method or faced board exams are quite equipped with better ideas and performing good in present scenario so why to put this cce method where teachers will behave like lord of rings .

6] In country like india having a large no of festivals students now hardly getting time to be with there family and share some values through social gatherings

7] Now in this present system hardly gets time to sleep, this method was’nt good for US neither for Indian where a child is more attached to his parents , this method is creating a hole in parents and child’s relationship

8] cbse board was doing well in board exams last year too students expecting to just pass were previlged with 60 to 70 % marks.so whats the use of this new system

9] classes have turned into craft classes now only paper cuttings and projects that too stolen or copied from somewhere r discussed , each day seems to ba a war for students now they r having a more competition on useless projects

10] previously teachers use to teach wholeheartedly for boards that was like their exams too they use to wait for results eagerly for their students to excel, but now as they know all is in their hands they do not take much interest just busy with the report submissions to cbse they imparted better knowledge at time of board exams

11] the basic idea of this system is i think to look for overall development of child, looking at the generations who faced th board exaams we feel they r more equipped with knowledge

so board exam was a good option

12] a meritorious student can not look beyond the syllabus of SA1 until its over whereas in past the students use to complete the whole syllabus in summer vacations and revise whole through the year now approx. 9 chapters r untouched to be asked for SA2 and 4 months left with a lot of festivals,so where r the students free.

13] in fact to make learning more practical a little change in syllabus should be looked forward as in maths real nos is of no use all students just mugging it up whereas commercial mathematics is of much importance like u had in your previous syllabus installment, income tax etc.

14] i plea u from bottom of my heart that please do take some step to make the generation strong India is known for its tuff education system 70% of the employees in nasa are from india and the maths level of students is unparallel all round the world, so please do not deteriorate the dignity of cbse boards infact the course should be made more tuff as now students are more inclined to mall culture this step of having board exams will make them to study

15] all networking sites are full of such fears of cce and all want board exams but none of them know whom to ask for that.

16] many more issues regarding teachers asking for favours from parents as all things are under them now, this is leading to corruption in schools,if this thing continues the day is not far away when parents will suicide along with their child and children of wealthy parents will enjoy .

17] cbse board was like a grandfather of family untill last year like unbiased checking without any favouratism and the parents would get result what the child studied throughout the year, cbse papers were never leaked , we can see that it has turned miracles to even average students but now cbse has divided all the the schools of nation in nuclear family where no control can be kept.

thanking you with a ray of hope

that 10 board exams will start again and this cce pattern will be withdrawn

    HI,
I AM HEMANT PRASAD OF CLASS 10 IN TATA DAV PUBLIC SCHOOL …
cce has increased a lot of project work for students in the time of exam,so students can only waste their time in preperation of different subjects of project work. there is more writing work in all subjects in the place of listening skill.please under stand our problem.
